Medical Imaging & Pototyping

Profile page

The Medical Imaging & Prototyping Focus Area covers the full range of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) certified computed tomography (CT) imaging and the production of high-quality sophisticated prototypes for research and development. The modern infrastructure includes a variety of CT scanners for in-vivo and in-vitro applications with a wide range of resolutions and scan volumes, along with various software tools and self-developed routines for virtual individual and statistical bone modeling and analysis. The team evaluates innovative surgical procedures and addresses current medical questions to expand knowledge about bone healing, variations in biomechanical bone characteristics and their role in the existence of persistent clinical problems. The range of services is complemented by a specialized prototype workshop enabling the rapid and high-quality production of sophisticated research prototypes, devices, templates, experimental setups and implants via high-quality Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machining.
