AO Trauma Course—Basic Principles of Fracture Management

September 22–24, 2026

The AO Trauma course Basic Principles of Fracture Management teaches fundamental principles and current concepts in the treatment of injuries, incorporating the latest techniques in operative fracture management. The AO Trauma Basic Principles course is the initial step along the path of lifelong learning in the area of operative fracture management and the main focus of this course lies in the basic principles of fracture management.

AO Trauma Course—Advanced Principles of Fracture Management

September 22–24, 2026

The AO Trauma Advanced Principles course builds upon the AO Principles and techniques learned in the AO Trauma Basic Principles course and focuses on the principles and techniques of operative fracture management in more complex injuries. The course will be delivered in a modular format. Each module consists of several evidence-based lectures covering key information. Case discussions in small groups will help participants understand decision-making processes and further develop their fracture management skills. Panel discussions and interactive sessions will promote interactivity between faculty and course participants. Participants may also bring their own cases for discussion with the faculty. In practical exercises participants will be trained in the application of various techniques.

AO Trauma Course—Advanced Principles of Fracture Management for ORP

September 22–23, 2026

Participants will learn the current management of patient pain, dysfunction, deformity, and cosmesis related to trauma of the upper limb. Fractures from the clavicle to the elbow will be covered as well as joint injuries and dislocations and soft-tissue injuries (the acute trauma phase and the posttraumatic sequelae such as malunion, nonunion, infection, etc). 

A well-balanced mix of educational methods and careful sequencing of topics is essential for successful teaching and learning at the advanced level. Short, evidence-based lectures cover the more advanced knowledge and principles of fracture management. In practical exercises participants are trained in the application of fixation techniques based on the underlying principles of fracture management. Discussing in small groups helps participants to reflect upon the knowledge and skills acquired in lectures and practical exercises.

AO Trauma Masters Course—Knee Fractures (With Human Anatomical Specimens)

September 26–28, 2026

The AO Trauma Masters Course—Knee covers the current concepts and techniques on how to recognize, characterize and treat complex injuries and deformities of the knee. Surgeons participating in this course will concentrate on the application of surgical planning and advanced techniques in the management of complex knee injuries and deformities.

The course is taught in a modular format and address the latest techniques and best practices in operative fracture management dealing with complex orthopedic trauma problems. Each module includes many lectures around the specific topic and open group discussions moderated by experts in this field. At the anatomical specimen laboratory, participants are trained in the application of different techniques and approaches. Ample opportunities are provided to share experiences and cases with peers and the expert regional and international faculty.

AO Trauma Masters Course—Foot & Ankle (With Human Anatomical Specimens)

September 27–29, 2026

This course teaches current concepts and techniques of complex foot and ankle surgery covering trauma and aiming at full functional restoration of the injured foot. The specimen dissection time will hone the common well known surgical approaches and allow the delegate to see areas / approaches that will elevate their practice from advanced to master. 

Surgeons participating in the course will concentrate on the application of surgical planning and advanced techniques in the management of complex foot and ankle injuries. The course will be taught in a modular format. A limited number of evidence-based lectures will cover the key information required. In practical exercises and anatomical specimen workshops participants will be trained in the application of different techniques and approaches. Discussing cases in small groups will help participants to understand decision-making and management skills. Furthermore, participants will have the opportunity to share their experience and cases with peers and experienced international and regional faculty. The course will focus on a biomechanical and biological approach to apply in fracture treatment in rare conditions as well as common conditions, pitfalls, clinical tricks, and means to avoid complications.

AO Trauma Masters Course—Surgical Approaches Upper Limb (With Human Anatomical Specimens)

September 24–26, 2026

The goal of this course is to enhance knowledge and skills in managing difficult and complex upper extremity trauma cases. Apply state of the art techniques and approaches. Explain common and special approaches used in upper limb trauma. Discuss with field experts best practice and management of complications in upper extremity trauma cases that can often be misdiagnosed or mistreated with focusing on surgical approaches.

AO masters courses address the latest techniques and best practices in operative fracture management. This course provides a comprehensive coverage of upper limb surgical approaches: shoulder, humerus, elbow, forearm, and wrist. 3 days course with interactive lectures and small group case discussions to deepen understanding of complex fracture management. A whole day hands-on cadaveric dissection in a wet lab setting for realistic surgical practice. The event consists of faculty-led sessions emphasizing anatomical landmarks, safe dissection, and implant positioning.

AO Recon Course—Complex Total Hip Arthroplasty (With Human Anatomical Specimen)

September 22–24, 2026

The AO Recon Course—Complex Total Hip Arthroplasty teaches current concepts in the treatment of patients with a need for revision or complex primary arthroplasty in the hip.

This course is modular in structure and highly interactive. Short, evidence-based lectures cover the key information required. Moderated case discussions in small groups will expand on each topic and help participants to develop decision-making skills. Surgical skills are enhanced in the anatomical specimen laboratory.
