AO Trauma takes online education to new heights
With new virtual environment for the AO Trauma World Meeting
This year's AO Trauma World Meeting brought participants together from all around the world in a vibrant new online environment.
Over four days, health care professionals eager to experience the AO's high-quality online education tuned in from around the world. Leading surgeons offered outstanding insight: Michael Baumgaertner and Rodrigo Pesantez chaired the course in hip fractures, Stefaan Nijs and Ashraf Moharram chaired the course in shoulder trauma, Gregory Della Rocca and Pedro Labronici chaired the course in fractures around the elbow, and Mandeep Dhillon and Stefan Rammelt chaired the course on foot and ankle.
The AO Trauma World Meeting lasted three days, and provided best in class online education comprising lectures, small-group discussions, and panel discussions for four hours each day. It drew 164 participants and involved 52 faculty members.
The custom-built virtual environment was designed to combine the best in user experience with the most advanced tools and technologies for online learning, while also giving the event a clearly AO identity.
The new learning management system used supported AO Trauma in delivering this new approach to online education.
