Dr Daniel Arens is the deputy leader Focus Area Preclinical Surgery at the AO Research Institute Davos (ARI). He is Study Director for GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) studies and Attending Veterinarian and contact person for AAALAC. He is also Occupational Health and Safety Officer for the Preclinical Facility and is responsible for anesthesia service within the Focus Area.

Dr Arens started in 2003 at the ARI to do his doctoral thesis. During this time he was, together with two other veterinarians, already responsible for the anesthesia and analgesia service within the Experimental Surgery group. From 2006 to 2007 he did a Small Animal Internship at the Animal Health Trust in England. He came back to the Experimental Surgery group as Project Manager and head of anesthesia and analgesia service in 2007. Dr Arens became a Specialised Veterinarian in Laboratory Animal Science (Dipl. SVLAS) in 2018. He is a member of the credential committee of SVLAS.
