Engage with your audience

Social media is a great way to maintain and strengthen professional relationships. Social media portals present a huge opportunity to promote educational activities, to network, and to share expertise with colleagues, clients, and industry partners.

Choose the right platform

Each social media platform serves a different need:

  • The focus of Twitter is online news and social networking; users post and interact with messages, known as tweets. It is a fast-paced, concise, and easy way to connect with individuals.

  • LinkedIn is for finding new opportunities, to grow careers, and to connect with other professionals, like a traditional networking event where you talk about your business and exchange business cards.

  • Facebook is a social networking platform where users can post and share pictures and other interesting content, comment, stream live videos, and chat. Shared content can be made publicly accessible, or it can be shared only among a selected group or with a single person.

  • Instagram is a social media platform where users can share photos or videos with their followers or a select group of friends. They can also view, comment, and like posts shared by their friends on Instagram.

Which social media network you choose depends on where your target customers are most concentrated, engaged, and accessible. Download the promotion channels overview here.

Hashtags

Use hashtags consistently to connect your content to a specific topic or event, helping your community to find your posts around your event and that specific topic that interests them.

It's also a simple way to contextualize what you’re talking about, without using too many words.

  • Start with # and don't use spaces, punctuation or symbols.
  • Don’t connect too many words.
  • Keep them short and easy to remember.
  • Use relevant and specific hashtags that will be easy to find and that will be likely used by others.
  • Limit the number of hashtags you use. More isn’t always better.
  • Always use #aotrauma.

Boost engagement

Help your ambassadors to get your event out there into your communities' consciousness. Encourage them to share and tell their friends, colleagues, and professional networks about your event to gain broader reach. We all trust recommendations from people who know us, which is why word of mouth continues to be a highly effective marketing method.
