Jahrestagung AO Trauma Schweiz am 2. und 3. Mai 2024 in Chur

Die diesjährige Jahrestagung von AO Trauma Schweiz stand unter dem Thema "Mountain Sports Trauma - New Trends, Tipps and Tricks" und wurde von Christoph Sommer und Yves Acklin vom Kantonsspital Chur organisiert.

Wie im Vorjahr wurde die Tagung bereits am Donnerstagabend mit der Mitgliederversammlung eröffnet. Im vergangenen Jahr konnten zahlreiche Schweizer Kurse erfolgreich abgehalten werden. Unsere Mitglieder engagierten sich auch als Faculty bei internationalen Kursen oder in verschiedenen Kommissionen der AO Foundation. Dieses Engagement ist von großer Bedeutung für unsere Organisation und wird verdankt.

Das anschließende Flying Dinner im Restaurant KostBar bot eine wunderbare Gelegenheit zum Austausch bei exzellentem Essen und Wein. Zudem feierten wir gebührend unsere beiden neuen Ehrenmitglieder, Claudio Gubser und Reto Babst. Ihr grosses Engagement wurde uns durch die Laudatoren Christoph Sommer sowie Frank Beeres und Björn Link nochmals wunderbar aufgezeigt.

Am Freitag widmeten wir uns den Frakturen im Bergsport. Die Präsentationen waren äußerst praxisorientiert, und wir konnten von den Referenten wertvolle Tipps und Tricks für unseren Alltag mitnehmen. Die Diskussionen waren wie immer lebhaft und unterstrichen die Bedeutung des gegenseitigen Austauschs. Ein herzlicher Dank gilt allen Referenten für ihre hervorragenden Präsentationen!

Auch in diesem Jahr vergaben wir den AO Trauma Switzerland Science Award. Forschungsarbeiten aus Schweizer Kliniken im Bereich Traumatologie können für diesen Preis nominiert werden. Der Vorstand wählte drei Arbeiten aus, die von den Autoren präsentiert wurden. Anschließend konnten die Teilnehmer der Tagung für die beste Arbeit abstimmen. Kerstin Bütler aus Chur gewann mit ihrer Publikation "Clavicular hook plate versus dog‑bone technique for acute high‑grade acromioclavicular joint dislocation: a retrospective cohort study comparing clinical outcome scores, complications, and costs", die im April 2023 in den "Archives of Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery" veröffentlicht wurde, den diesjährigen AO Trauma Switzerland Science Award in Höhe von CHF 1000.

Zum Abschluss der Tagung berichteten Method Kabelitz aus Zürich und Julian Zimmermann aus Schlieren von ihren Erfahrungen im Rahmen des DACH-Fellowships. Es war inspirierend zu hören, was junge AO-Mitglieder von unseren Kollegen in den Nachbarländern lernen konnten. 

Nach einer gelungenen Tagung mit vielen neuen Ideen und schönen Begegnungen traten wir am Freitagabend die Heimreise an. Vielen Dank an alle für den wertvollen Austausch. Wir freuen uns auf weitere Veranstaltungen in unserer Region.

Annual Meeting of AO Trauma Switzerland on May 2nd and 3rd, 2024, in Chur

This year's Annual Meeting of AO Trauma Switzerland was themed "Mountain Sports Trauma - New Trends, Tips, and Tricks" and was organized by Christoph Sommer and Yves Acklin from Kantonsspital Chur.

Similar to the previous year, the meeting commenced on Thursday evening with the General Assembly. Over the past year, numerous Swiss courses were successfully conducted, with our members also actively participating as faculty in international courses or serving in various commissions of the AO Foundation. This commitment is crucial for our organization and is greatly appreciated.

The subsequent Flying Dinner at Restaurant KostBar provided an excellent opportunity for networking over exquisite food and wine. Moreover, we celebrated the induction of our two new honorary members, Claudio Gubser and Reto Babst. Their significant contributions were eloquently highlighted by the laudatory remarks of Christoph Sommer, Frank Beeres, and Björn Link.

On Friday, our focus shifted to fractures in mountain sports. The presentations were highly practical, and attendees gained valuable insights and tips for their daily practice from the speakers. Discussions were lively as always, emphasizing the importance of mutual exchange. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the presenters for their outstanding contributions.

Once again, we awarded the AO Trauma Switzerland Science Award this year. Research works from Swiss clinics in the field of traumatology are eligible for nomination. The board selected three papers, which were presented by the authors. Subsequently, attendees voted for the best paper. Kerstin Bütler from Chur emerged as the recipient of this year's AO Trauma Switzerland Science Award, receiving CHF 1000 for her publication: "Clavicular hook plate versus dog-bone technique for acute high-grade acromioclavicular joint dislocation: a retrospective cohort study comparing clinical outcome scores, complications, and costs," published in the "Archives of Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery" in April 2023.

To conclude the meeting, Method Kabelitz from Zurich and Julian Zimmermann from Schlieren shared their experiences from the DACH Fellowship program. It was inspiring to hear what young AO members could learn from our colleagues in neighboring countries.

Following a successful meeting filled with innovative ideas and meaningful interactions, we embarked on our journey home on Friday evening. We sincerely thank all participants for their valuable contributions and look forward to upcoming events in our region.
