Timothy S. Achor, MD, Elected as AO Trauma North America Representative on the AO North America Board of Directors
December 4, 2024 – (Wayne, PA) – AO North America is proud to announce the election of Dr. Timothy S. Achor as the new AO Trauma North America (AO TNA) Representative on the AO North America Board of Directors (AO NA Board), effective immediately. Dr. Achor will fill the position Mark Lee, MD, vacated when Dr. Lee became AO NA President earlier this year. Dr. Achor will serve a four-year term, bringing his expertise and leadership to this vital role.
Dr. Achor currently serves as Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where he specializes in orthopaedic trauma. He also holds the Director of the Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship position at Memorial Hermann Hospital—Texas Medical Center. Known for his dedication to exceptional education and clinical care, Dr. Achor mentors and trains many national and international fellows. He is active in several orthopedic societies, participates in scientific editorial positions, and engages in community education outreach to help the public he serves.
A senior AO faculty member and experienced leader in AO Trauma committees and initiatives, Dr. Achor's credentials include a proven track record of advancing orthopaedic education, including creating the innovative AO NA LINK series for medical students. He has served as the AO TNA Fellowship Committee Chair from 2021 – 2024 and received the Howard Rosen Award in 2012 and 2013. He has been honored as a “Top Doctor” several times by peers and patients; he has been awarded a teaching excellence award seven times, including a resident teaching award at UT Houston. His accomplishments align seamlessly with AO NA's mission to advance education, research, and clinical care excellence.

The AO Trauma NA Representative plays a crucial role in supporting the Clinical Division, fostering communication between the Clinical Division and the AO NA Board, and contributing to strategic planning, fiscal oversight, and maintaining governance best practices. Through his tenure on the Board, Dr. Achor will focus on advancing AO NA’s mission while ensuring the organization’s operations are inclusive, equitable, and aligned with its values.
