Description
The Advanced Principles of Fracture Management course explores the treatment of complex fractures and fracture complications. Participants will gain hands-on experience practicing newly-learned techniques and develop skills related to preoperative planning and latest fixation techniques for treating malunions and nonunions.
Learning will be delivered through
- Surgical techniques practice on artificial bones with a 4:1 participant-to-faculty ratio
- Didactic case-based presentations
- Group discussions

Learning objectives
Upon completion of this event, participants will be able to Apply reduction techniques in fracture management with attention to soft tissue Assess and treat complex diaphyseal and (peri)articular fractures using advanced application techniques Demonstrate strategies for assessing and treating open fractures and soft-tissue injuries Initiate appropriate management for patients with pelvic injuries and polytrauma Recognize complications and manage accordingly -
Prerequisites
AO Trauma Basic Principles of Fracture Management course, as familiarity and competence with instrumentation and techniques will be assumed.
