Applications now open: First ARI-APOA/APORS Research Fellowship is a chance to work in ARI’s world-class research environment

Designed to strengthen scientific exchange and collaboration between the AO, the AO Research Institute Davos (ARI), and the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association (APOA) and its Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Research Society (APORS) research section, the first-ever ARI-APOA/APORS Research Fellowship is a unique opportunity for up to five early-career surgeons and clinician-scientists from APOA member countries to work for two weeks in ARI’s world-class preclinical musculoskeletal research environment.

Aimed at deepening understanding of translational research, promoting integration of scientific principles into clinical practice, and supporting development of future orthopedic research leaders in the Asia-Pacific region, the 2026 ARI-APOA/APORS Research Fellowship offers a wealth of opportunities to:

  • Gain insights into the host’s activities 
  • Be exposed to the latest research methodologies
  • Refine and enhance their own research proposals
  • Receive expert feedback and guidance
  • Build global networks with AO and APOA peers

 

Advancing trauma care through research

The AO and ARI will provide the fellows with housing in Davos, and the APOA will cover international travel, visa costs, and daily living expense up to CHF 1,500. The fellows will be at the AO Research Institute from June 1 to 12, 2026. The fellowship program is open to passionate surgeons and clinician-scientists dedicated to learning about and advancing trauma care through research. 

 

Eligibility

  • Surgeons or surgeons in training (under 45 years of age), specializing in trauma, orthopedics, or related fields (including spine), with a strong interest in research
  • Members of APOA (APORS)  
  • Members of any clinical division of the AO

The 2026 ARI-APOA/APORS Research Fellows will be selected by the chairpersons of the AO Trauma Asia Pacific (AO TAP) Research Committee and the AO Trauma Middle East and Northern Africa (AO TMENA) Research Committee, the chairpersons of the APORS section and the APOA Education Committee.
