AO Trauma NA Committee Positions

Dear AO Trauma North America Community Members,

 

AO Trauma North America (AO TNA) is looking for motivated individuals with excellent interpersonal skills to serve as committee members on the Community Development, Fellowship, and Research Committees.

 

The criteria for the open positions are:

  • Trauma surgeon in active practice

  • AO Trauma Member residing in North America

 

 

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MEMBER: 2 Vacancies
(Term: July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2028)

 

The Community Development Committee’s mission is to increase AO membership in North America, improve access for those interested in getting involved in AO TNA and to develop programs to communicate with medical students, residents, fellows, and practicing orthopaedic surgeons about AO activities and resources.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Reporting to the AO TNA Community Development Committee Chair

  • Participating in at least one in-person meeting and monthly conference calls during the year

  • Promoting continued member engagement within the AO Trauma community

  • Creating interesting programs, products, and benefits to appeal to members and prospective members and to encourage membership to prospective members

  • Building partnerships and creating alliances with academic societies

  • Ensuring that the objectives of the AO TNA Community Development Committee are achieved

 

 

FELLOWSHIP COMMITTEE MEMBER: 2 Vacancies

(Term: July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2028)

 

The Fellowship Committee diligently curates and enriches programming tailored to enhance the experience and professional growth of AO TNA fellows. The Committee's initiatives blend interactive live sessions with accessible web-based resources, fostering robust networking avenues and educational prospects for fellows. Through these activities, the Committee seamlessly integrates fellows into the fabric of the AO community, nurturing bonds that endure throughout their careers. Within AO TNA's fellowship programs lies an unparalleled chance to forge connections, glean insights, and cultivate proficiency through direct engagement with experienced leaders and pioneers in orthopaedic trauma.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Reporting to the AO TNA Fellowship Committee Chair

  • Participating in monthly conferences and at least one in-person meeting (Fellows Forum)

  • Supporting the management of the fellowship grant programs

  • Ensuring that the objectives of the AO TNA Fellowship Committee are achieved

 

 

RESEARCH COMMITTEE MEMBER: 2 Vacancies
(Term: July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2028)

 

The Research Committee is pivotal in designing and delivering research programs to

foster research and development within orthopedic trauma for residents, fellows, and

attending faculty. The Committee reviews applications, identifies potential candidates

for research funding and makes recommendations accordingly. It promotes the AO’s

research outcomes and publications to advance patient care.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Reporting to the AO TNA Research Committee Chair

  • Participating in conference calls every two months and at least one in-person meeting

  • Soliciting and reviewing proposals for AO TNA research grants

  • Selecting grant recipients according to the criteria established by the Committee

  • Fostering a close relationship with the AO community academic societies and universities

  • Ensuring that the objectives of the AO TNA Research Committee are achieved

All AO TNA active members who wish to be considered for these open positions are required to submit a CV, an AO bio sketch, and a Letter of Intent to aotna@aona.org by Monday, May 19, 2025, at 9AM ET.

 

If you are applying for multiple open committee positions, please indicate your order of preference. The selection committee for each of these open positions will make their final decision in June 2025 for a three-year term to begin on July 1, 2025.
