Empower Your Research Journey: Young Investigator’s Workshop at OneAO 2024

Are you an aspiring researcher in the field of Orthopaedic trauma? AO North America is pleased to announce its 2nd annual course offering, “Grant Writing, Scientific Storytelling, and Career Navigation for the Emerging Clinician Scientist”, set to take place at OneAO 2025 on April 3-4, 2024, at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass in Phoenix, Arizona.

This comprehensive course, presented in collaboration with the Center for Orthopaedic Injury Research and Innovation (COIRI), and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA), is designed to equip emerging researchers with the tools and expertise needed to navigate the dynamic landscape of orthopedic trauma research.

Led by a distinguished faculty of experts, including Dr. Gerard Slobogean, Dr. Leah Gitajn, Dr. Saam Morshed, Dr. Nathan O'Hara, Dr. Sheila Sprague, and Dr. Augustine Saiz (prior AO YIRDA award, AO Young Investigator award, and OTA Young Investigator award winner), this immersive program covers a wide range of essential topics for young investigators. From building and managing research programs to mastering grant writing techniques, participants will gain invaluable insights and practical skills to advance their careers in orthopedic trauma research.

"The Young Investigator’s Workshop offers a unique opportunity for early-career clinicians to receive mentorship and guidance from leaders in the field," says Dr. Gerard Slobogean, one of the course instructors. "It's a chance to deepen your understanding, refine your approach, and chart a course for success in orthopedic research."

Tailored for current trauma fellows and practicing clinicians within five years of completing their post-graduate training, this intensive course provides a structured learning experience that blends didactic sessions, interactive discussions, and hands-on exercises. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with faculty members, receive personalized feedback on their research projects, and network with peers who share their passion for advancing orthopedic care.
