On behalf of the AO CMF Latin America (AO CMF LAT) Nomination Committee (NomCom), we are pleased to announce the call for application for AO CMF Latin America Board.

The Officer elected will also serve as Global Commission Members in their respective area.

 

Open position

AO CMF Education Officer

AO CMF seeks a highly motivated and visionary individual passionate about leading and advancing education in the f ield of craniomaxillofacial (CMF) surgery. The successful applicant will work collaboratively to drive the strategic development of education programs, ensuring innovation, diversity, and competency based learning are at the core of AO CMF’s educational offerings. This person will position AO CMF as a regional leader in CMF surgery education, supporting surgeons worldwide in their professional growth.

Start date: July 1, 2026
End date: June 30, 2028
Term: Three years (with option to renew for one additional term of 3 years, max. 2 terms)

Applications must be submitted through the election page by 23:59 March 15, 2026 (Brasilia UTC -3). In addition, the Candidates are required to renew AO CMF membership by 23:59 March 15, 2026 (Brasilia UTC -3).

Additionally, to maintain international diversity, no more than 50% of the board members shall be from one country of the region. Therefore, candidacies from the following country will not be accepted: Argentina.

How to apply

Applicants who meet the criteria outlined under Requirements in the job description are invited to submit their applications—including their CV and letter of intent—via the online submission system. Completed applications, including a description of the candidate’s top five priorities if elected (to be entered directly into the submission system under Motivation), must be submitted to AO CMF between March 7, 2026 and March 15, 2026, by 23:59 (Brasilia UTC -3). In addition, the Candidates are required to renew AO CMF membership by 23:59 March 15, 2026 (Brasilia UTC -3).

 

For all positions the following criteria apply:

  • Candidates running for election have no voting right.
  • Each voting member has one (1) vote.
  • Voters must have a valid membership by the time of the election (renew your AO CMF membership by March 15, 2026, midnight UTC -3.

Electorate and votes

Based on the Terms of Reference, the electorate is selected by the following criteria:

  • Active local, regional or international AO CMF LA Faculty with board approval.

 

Voting mechanism

  • First-past-the-post by anonymous e-voting
  • Multiple run-off electronic voting process
  • Participation quorum required: 30%
  • If a candidate reaches an absolute majority in any round, they are the winner
  • The candidate with the least votes is eliminated at each round
  • Another round is carried out as long as no candidate reaches an absolute majority
  • If a candidate runs for a second term, and no other candidate applies for the position, a qualified majority of votes (75% +1) is necessary
