AO CMF Latin America Board Elections—Call for Applications

Election

On behalf of the AO CMF Latin America (AO CMF LAT) Nomination Committee (NomCom), we are pleased to announce the call for application for AO CMF Latin America Board Community Development Officer and Research and Development Officer positions.

The elected Officers will also serve as Global Commission Members in their respective areas.

Based on the AO CMF Terms of Reference, the two-year term of office (with option to renew for one additional term of 3 years, maximum 2 terms) will be as follows:
July 1, 2026–June 30, 2028

AO CMF Latin America LAT seeks highly motivated individuals of international repute and excellent global scientific and clinical recognition. The successful applicants will work with the AO CMF Latin America LAT Board by overseeing and managing all Community Development and Research activities. Applicants for both positions need to be able to work in a multicultural environment with no travel restrictions. In addition, the Community Development applicant is expected to have the vision to contribute to the AO CMF community, while the Research and Development applicant is expected to have the vision to lead and contribute to AO CMF Research, help set new standards, and position AO CMF as an academic leader in Craniomaxillofacial research.

Applications must be submitted through the election page by 23:59 January 26, 2026 (Brasilia UTC -3). In addition, the Candidates are required to renew AO CMF membership by 23:59 January 26, 2026 (Brasilia UTC -3).

Electorate and votes

Based on the Terms of Reference, the electorate is selected by the following criteria:

  • Active local, regional or international AO CMF LA Faculty with board approval
  • Candidates running for election have no voting rights
  • Each voting member has one (1) vote
  • Voters must have a valid membership at the time of the election and be residents of the region.

 

Voting mechanism

First-past-the-post by anonymous e-voting:

  • Multiple run-off electronic voting process
  • If a candidate reaches an absolute majority in any round, they are the winner
  • The candidate with the least votes is eliminated at each round
  • Another round is carried out as long as no candidate reaches an absolute majority
  • If a candidate runs for a second term, and no other candidate applies for the position, a qualified majority of votes (75% +1) is necessary
