Salvage Treatment in Cleft Lip and Palate Surgeries

Cleft lip and palate surgeries demand a surgeon's expertise and a delicate touch to prevent potential devastating conditions. This study group will commence with a brief introduction to the treatment algorithm for oronasal fistula, followed by an examination of a case marked by a regrettable outcome due to an ill-advised decision during cleft orthognathic surgery. The execution of segmental osteotomy to align the upper dental arch led to necrosis in the adjacent alveolar bone and gingival tissues. Ultimately, an alveolar oronasal fistula occurred, resulting in the loss of a tooth. This section will delve into the decision-making process for aligning the dental arch in cleft cases and explore salvage procedures for such conditions. Moderators within this study group will also share intriguing cases for collective discussion.
