Governance News
21 May 2024
Dear AO North America Members,
I am writing to inform you of my decision to resign as president of AO North America, effective 24 August 2024, at the conclusion of the next AO NA Board of Directors meeting. Unfortunately, I am unable to meet the various travel demands necessary to properly serve the organization and its members.
My sincerest gratitude is offered to the board members, clinical division leaders, and all our volunteers for their unwavering dedication. You all very clearly carry the excellent AO spirit forward in your daily work, and that fact ensures the successful future of our educational and other missions.
Following the AO NA bylaws, the AO NA Board of Directors has appointed Mark Lee, MD, as the new president to replace me. Dr. Lee has been serving as the Trauma Representative to the AO NA Board of Directors since 2021. He has a wealth of experience and a vast understanding of the entire organization. Dr. Lee will serve as AO NA President through June 2026 and then become AO NA Chair through June 2029. I know that he will uphold our values and lead AO NA to new heights.
This action has created a vacancy in the TNA Representative to the AO NA Board of Directors position. After thorough discussions, the Board has decided to conduct an early election to fulfill that role. The election process will begin shortly.
It has been more than a privilege to serve as your president. Thank you all for your support and understanding during this transition.
Sincerely,
