Highlights of the year so far including top articles and awards

The Editors of Global Spine Journal are pleased to announce the 2024 impact factor of 3.0, which is an increase from 2023 and the highest Impact Factor GSJ has ever received! GSJ is in the 1st quartile for the "Orthopaedics" category and the 2nd quartile for the "Clinical Neurology" category.
“We would like to thank all of you for your support of GSJ. We could not have done this without our authors, reviewers, and readers and we are excited to see GSJ continue to progress,” the Editors-in-Chief Jeffrey C. Wang, Jens R. Chapman, and Karsten Wiechert stated on their announcement.
“The fact that Global Spine Journal increased its Impact factor in an increasingly competitive environment is proof that our global scope and the Open Access nature of our journal is relevant and attractive to authors and readers alike,” Wiechert said. “We strongly believe that Open Access increases the spread of knowledge, our Focus issues as well as our Special Collections make Global Spine Journal the go-to Journal for highest quality spine publishing. The GSJ Best Paper and Best Reviewer awards
The GSJ Awards were presented by the Editors-in-Chief at the Global Spine Congress in Rio de Janeiro. The awards were for the Best Reviewers and Best Papers of 2024. The two awarded best reviewers were Chris Neal and Gal Barkay.

The official GSJ Virtual Journal Club has now been launched in tandem with the Seattle Science Foundation. These sessions will be streamed live online and the playlist of recordings is available to watch anytime afterwards. This is a quarterly collaborative effort with each session discussing a different topic featuring GSJ articles.
The next GSJ Virtual Club Meeting will be on August 8, from 6–7 AM PST. This session will be streamed live from Philadelphia, led by Alexander Vaccaro and Jay Dalton from the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute.
