Remembering Sandip Chatterjee

Dr Sandip Chatterjee passes away

Renowned neurosurgeon Dr Sandip Chatterjee has passed away.

Dr Chatterjee was one of India’s foremost neurosurgeons. A stalwart in his field, Dr Chatterjee was not only a skilled medical professional but also a respected debater, a compassionate human being, and a man known for his sharp wit. His contributions extended beyond the operating theater, as he passionately advocated for several significant causes, some of which found their way to Parliament.

Dr Chatterjee’s illustrious career included numerous prestigious qualifications. He was an F.R.C.S. (Edinburgh), DNB (Surgery), M.N.A.M.S (Neurosurgery), and F.R.C.S. (Neurosurgery), among many other titles. His medical journey began with an M.B.B.S. from Calcutta University in 1984, where he graduated with honors in surgery and ophthalmology. He earned his F.R.C.S. (Neurosurgery) in 1994, marking him as one of the most accomplished neurosurgeons of his time.

Dr Chatterjee was also a proud Xaverian, deeply connected to his St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata roots. His expertise and contributions to medicine were matched by his dedication to social causes, earning him admiration across all walks of life.

The medical community and his patients mourn the loss of a remarkable individual. Dr Chatterjee’s legacy will endure, and his work will continue to inspire future generations of doctors. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his grieving family. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
