Global Spine Congress 2024: An innovative event in Bangkok

GSC 2024

The Global Spine Congress (GSC) 2024 just wrapped up another successful event in Bangkok, bringing together the world's leading spine surgeons, researchers, and spine care professionals. Held May 15-18 at the Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at centralwOrld, this year’s congress provided a unique platform to share the latest advances in spine care, foster collaboration, and set the stage for future innovations.

GSC 2024 by every measure was our biggest and best-ever event. A record 1,762 abstracts were submitted for oral and e-poster presentations giving presenters the opportunity to share their research with hundreds of spine specialists. The record number of abstracts also brought a record number of attendees. More than 2000 participants were in attendance.

The Congress kicked off with the opening symposia “Contemporary Concepts in Spinal Surgery”, which focused on spine innovation and the challenges and joys of spine surgery in the developing world.

Scientific sessions and symposia

The GSC featured more than 120 scientific sessions with over 600 speakers from 59 countries, covering a wide range of topics from spinal deformities and degenerative diseases to trauma and tumor management.

The hands-on cadaveric workshops provided attendees with practical experience in the latest surgical techniques. The pre-courses “Basic and Advanced Endoscopic Spine Surgery” were particularly popular, offering spine surgeons the opportunity to refine their surgical skills in endoscopic spine surgery and gain the knowledge and skills to incorporate endoscopic procedures. The GSC also featured symposia from 18 guest societies on a variety of topics.

*All accepted abstracts can be read online in the Global Spine Journal Special Issue

Exhibits and innovations

The sold-out exhibit hall featured more than 60 exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge products and technologies. From advanced imaging systems to innovative spinal implants, attendees had the opportunity to explore the latest technologies to improve spine care.

A highlight of the exhibit hall in addition to the theater sessions were the all-new rapid-fire sessions which gave abstract submitters the opportunity to present their work on stage in a 2-minute presentation.

Networking and collaboration

GSC 2024 also provided ample opportunities for networking and collaboration. The networking event that kicked off the official start of the congress took place at the historic Nai Lert Park Heritage Home allowing surgeons to network in a relaxed setting, while the Welcome Reception held the following day in the exhibit hall gave attendees the opportunity to mingle and network with colleagues while enjoying light snacks and drinks. The Global Spine Journal Awards and Global Spine Diploma graduates were also presented in the theater area during the Welcome Reception.
