Call for applications: Election of AO SESA Board members

AO SESA seeks candidates for four positions on the AO Spine Europe and Southern Africa (AO SESA) Board

Elections

On behalf of the AO Spine Europe and Southern Africa (AO SESA) Board, we are pleased to announce the call for applications for the roles of AO SESA Board chairperson elect, education officer elect, and community development officer, as well as for the newly created diversity and inclusion officer position.

We encourage all AO Spine members who fulfill the eligibility criteria to apply for these important positions. The term office of current AO SESA Board Chairperson Pedro Berjano (Italy) will end on June 30, 2025, the term of the AO SESA Board Education Officer Alpaslan Senkoylu (Turkey) ends on June 30, 2025, and the term of office of AO SESA Board Community Development Officer Riccardo Cecchinato (Italy) will end on June 30, 2024.

Based on the AO Spine Terms of Reference, the terms* of office for these three positions are as follows:

  • Chairperson elect: July 1, 2024*–June 30, 2025, followed by a three-year term (July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2028) as chairperson.
  • Education officer elect:  July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025 followed by three-year term (July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2028) as education officer.
  • Community development officer: July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2027
  • Diversity and inclusion officer: July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2027

*The change of office always takes place after the AO Trustees Meeting. The administrative cutoff date is the end of June.

Applications must be submitted through the online application system by 23:59 Central European Time (CET) on Saturday, December 16, 2023.

The new diversity and inclusion officer will contribute to an increased awareness and attitude towards diversity and inclusion and actively stimulate the formation of communities and activities into AO SESA, working in collaboration with the entire ESA board to advance the AO's mission and the goals. The successful applicant is expected to have a vision regarding active steps towards increased diversity and inclusion in the ESA region.
