AO Spine Advanced Course—Cervical Spine: Dealing with Complex Deformity and Revision Problems
Successful cervical spine complex surgery can be a demanding task. This advanced level course enhances knowledge and skills to tackle complex cervical spine disorders with success and increased comfort, including potential complications. The hands-on section helps participants understand and successfully plan cervical spine deformity surgery.
This course is for spine surgeons who feel comfortable treating standard cervical cases (degeneration, trauma) and uncomplicated trunk deformity cases and want to become proficient in treating the more complex cervical cases, including revision, cervical and upper trunk deformity.

Anterior cervical procedures:
- High retropharyngeal approach to C1-C2
- Anterior cervical osteotomy
- Anterior approach to cervicothoracic junction (manubriotomy)
- Vertebral artery dissection
Posterior cervical procedures:
- C1-C2 Magerl-Harms fixation and articular distraction procedures
- Posterior fixation with navigation C2-Th5 and lateral mass and multipoint fixation
- C7 PSO for cervical kyphosis
- Th3 PSO to correct high T1 slope

- Understanding sagittal alignment of the trunk and cervical spine
- Mid-cervical rigid kyphosis
