Call for applications: Election of AO CMF ESA Board members
AO CMF seeks candidates for two positions on the AO CMF Europe and Southern Africa (AO CMF ESA) Board
On behalf of the AO CMF Europe and Southern Africa (AO CMF ESA) Board, we are pleased to announce the call for applications for the role of AO CMF ESA Board chairperson as well as for the newly created regional affairs officer position.
We encourage all AO CMF members who fulfill the eligibility criteria to apply for these important positions. The term of current AO CMF ESA Chairperson Max Heiland (Germany) will end on June 30, 2024 (one re-election possible).
Based on the AO CMF Terms of Reference, the three-year terms of office the two new board members will be as follows:
- July 1, 2024*–June 30, 2027
*The change of office office always takes place after the AO Trustees Meeting. The administrative cutoff date is the end of June.
Applications must be submitted through the online application system by 23:59 Central European Time (CET) on Saturday, December 16, 2023.

Eligibility and requirements

The successful applicant for the new regional affairs officer position will lead the AO CMF ESA regional affairs by overseeing and managing all educational activities in the region. The applicant is expected to have the vision to lead and contribute to help us set new standards, positioning AO CMF as a leader in craniomaxillofacial surgery.
Electorate
Based on The Terms of Reference and the decision of the AO CMF ESA Board, the electorate is selected by the following criteria:
- Voting members of the AO CMF regional Board
- Active regional or international AO CMF faculty with at least 5 years of AO teaching experience after regional board approval, who have attended at least one faculty education program
- Voting members of any AO CMF Global Commission (Community Development, TC, R&D, Education)
- Candidates running for election have no voting right
- Each voting member has one (1) vote
- Voters must have a valid membership by the time of the election and be residents of the region.
Voting mechanism
All candidates must submit their application (online form, photo, disclosure statement form, confirmation form of the Code of Ethics and Conduct) in the application system by 23:59 Central European Time (CET) on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
Applications will be reviewed by the Nomination Committee, and the election will run from December 22, 2023, to January 27, 2024.
The electoral process will then be ratified by the Nomination Committee; candidates will be informed of the outcome and the results will be announced. There will be a handover meeting from the current to the new members. The term of office will start on July 1, 2024.
