AO CMF announces R&D Chairperson election results 2023
AO CMF is pleased to announce that Thomas B. Dodson was elected as the new Chairperson of AO CMF R&D Commission.
The election processes have been monitored and approved by the respective Nomination Committees, are aligned with the currently valid terms of reference, and have been confirmed by the mandated governance bodies.

Term: July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2026 as Chairperson
Thomas B Dodson is an accomplished oral and maxillofacial surgeon and a well-known academic leader in his field. He has been serving as an active member of the AO CMF R&D Commission for the last six years and has been actively engaged in all aspects of the position.
As a member of the AO CMF R&D Commission, Thomas B Dodson has gained an intimate knowledge of the processes and procedures of the Commission. He has worked well with the current Commission members and leadership and has the knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm to lead the Commission in its important role in supporting the AO by promoting and expanding CMF research.
Thomas B Dodson is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Washington School of Dentistry, Seattle, WA. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and a member of the AO CMF Research and Development Commission.
Thomas B Dodson has also served on the editorial board of several prestigious medical journals, including Oral Surgery Oral Medicine Oral Radiology, Journal of Dental Research, and Craniofacial Trauma and Reconstruction.
Thomas B Dodson has been actively involved with AO activities throughout his career. Over the years, he has taken numerous AO courses, served as faculty, and served as a member of the AO CMF Research and Development Commission.
