AO CMF R&D announces member election results 2023

Election

AO CMF R&D is pleased to announce that Rodrigo Rereira and Patricia Stoor were elected as the new Members of AO CMF R&D Commission.

The election processes have been monitored and approved by the respective Nomination Committees, are aligned with the currently valid terms of reference, and have been confirmed by the mandated governance bodies.

Rodrigo Pereira

Term: July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2026 as Member

Rodrigo Pereira is an experienced Oral & Maxillofacial surgeon with a focus on trauma, orthognathic surgery, and bone reconstruction. He is currently a professor at the graduation program at Grande Rio University – UNIGRANRIO, where has demonstrated his leadership skills. He has also served as the editor of the Dental Implant section in the Journal of the Brazilian College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery - JBCOMS.

Rodrigo Pereira has contributed nationally and internationally through his recognized publications, and he has experience submitting projects to receive Federal grants.
Rodrigo Pereira's background includes serving at the Oral & Maxillofacial department at General hospital of Nova Iguaçu in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

We believe that Rodrigo Pereira's expertise, experience, and passion for education and research make him an excellent member for the AOCMF R&D Commission.

Patricia Stoor

Term: July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2026 as Member

Currently, Patricia Stoor holds the position of Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Helsinki University Hospital, HUS, Finland. She is also the Clinical Director at Orton Oy, Helsinki (Helsinki University Hospital´s Private Hospital), and a Board Member of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the European Union of Medical Specialists. Additionally, she is a Councilor of Finland in the European Association for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a member of the AO Technical commission, Patient Specific Solutions Task Force (PSSTF), and ESA Board member, AOCMF.

Patricia Stoor has been actively involved in research since 1993, and she obtained her PhD on biomaterials and microbes. Her research work resulted in two US patents. Her latest research interests include 3D planning, patient-specific implants in reconstructive surgery, trauma, deformity, and orthognathic surgery. Recently, she contributed to a multicenter study on dental implants, which was presented at the EAO congress in September 2022 in Geneva. She has published more than 30 publications.

Patricia Stoor's extensive knowledge, experience, and dedication make her a valuable addition to the AO CMF R&D commission and her election will bring new opportunities for the commission.
