Broad LCP 5.5
The broad LCP 5.5 is indicated for treatment of fractures and joint arthrodeses in large animals, such as equine and bovine patients. The plates have a width of 17.5 mm and a thickness of 6 mm and are specifically designed to accommodate the extreme weight of adult large animals and enable immediate weight bearing postoperatively.
The plates feature a centrally located stacked combination hole at one end of the plate, for use in treating metaphyseal fractures. The plates are tapered at the other end to facilitate minimally invasive placement. Limited contact undercuts allow smoother plate contouring. It is preferred to provide good bone-plate contact, achieved through the initial insertion of cortex screws at strategic locations or the use of the push-pull device.
The plates are available in sizes of 1018 holes, made out of 316L stainless steel, and are part of the large fragment instrument and implant set.
A 14-year-old Trakehner mare sustained a luxation of the proximal intertarsal joint (calcaneus and talus are displaced palmarly).
