VIPER PRIME™ TLIF Retractor

The new VIPER PRIME™ TLIF Retractor (Fig 1) facilitates the surgical approach to the lumbar spine during minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF), providing a clear pathway to the disc space through the patient’s lumbar musculature and intervertebral foramen opening.
This innovative retractor achieves pedicle screw-based distraction and tissue retraction in a single system, enabling access and exposure of the surgical site while requiring minimal hardware. Integrated light channels and optional medial retraction provide improved visualization of the targeted disc space. The retractor frame features a tower clamp design and a medial blade holder with pivoting capabilities allowing distal exposure without a larger incision.
The VIPER PRIME™ TLIF Retractor is a key component of the UNLEASH™ MIS TLIF Procedural Suite (Fig 2) and offers several procedural advantages. It enables parallel distraction through screw-based retraction, offers three options for lighting via medial blades and tower clamps and offers multiple widths and lengths of medial blades to allow for 22° of toeing capability. Furthermore, the VIPER PRIME™ locking post and screw constructs allow for polyaxial screw locking to form a rigid system, and the tower clamps provide 360° of freedom for versatility and modular retractor assembly.
