Andrea Schwab

Dr Andrea Schwab joined the AO Research Institute (ARI) in 2018 as Post Doc in the Biomedical Materials Focus Area. Her research focuses on the interaction and influence of cell laden biomaterials (hydrogels) for application in orthopedic tissue engineering and regeneration as well as biofabrication.

Dr Schwab studied Technology of Functional Materials at the Julius Maximilians University in Wuerzburg (Germany). During her master's she focused on biomaterials. After receiving her MSc (Dipl Ing) in 2013 she started with her PhD under the supervision of Heike Walles at the Department Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (Julius Maximilians University, Wuerzburg). During her bachelor studies she has spend 3 months at the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering, University of Toronto (Canada) granted by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). During her PhD Dr Schwab has spent 3 months at LifeTec Group B.V in Eindhoven (the Netherlands).
