AO Research Institute Davos principal investigator awarded professorship at University of Zurich

The University of Zuuml;rich, has appointed Hansrudi Noser "Adjunct Professor" at the request of the Faculty of Economics. This position takes effect from September 1, 2010, as long as he continues his teaching activity at the University. Currently, each fall semester, he gives the lecture "Multimedia nbsp;Applications and Practice".

After studying Physics (Dipl. Phys ETHZ) and Computer Science (ing. info. dipl. EPFL) he was awarded a PhD degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland, and, some years later, the venia legendi (habilitation, qualification as a lecturer) in computer science from the University of Zurich. Since October 2004 he is principal investigator at the AO Research Institute Davos (ARI) and manages the Human Morphology Services (HMS) which maintains a CT (Computed Tomography) image database and offers services to the AO Network concerning shape analysis of 3D virtual human bones for various medical projects in the field of trauma and musculoskeletal surgery.

Amongst others, this jump in his academic career was possible thanks to stimulating and interesting research work within the AO Network, assisted by very motivated AO Research Institute Davos team members, and thanks to the AO Foundation rsquo;s encouragement of his teaching activity in Zurich.
