ARI Collaborative Research

ARI Collaborative Research Programms

Within each focus field there are one or two collaborative research programs (CRPs). Each CRP is composed of an international, interdisciplinary network of research teams which work on collaborative projects towards the consortium goal. To ensure proper function of the network a "primus inter pares" from the AO Research Institute (ARI) is responsible for the scientific coordination. CRPs are typically funded for six years and conclude with a pre-clinical proof of concept study testing the consortium developed repair technique/device.

Annulus Fibrosus Ruptures

This program is aimed at developing solutions for treatment of annulus fibrosus rupture.

Acute Cartilage Injury

This program is aimed at assessing problems of acute cartilage injury and at developing solutions for treatment.

European Union Collaborative Grants

BALI

The BALI consortium employs a wide range of complementary approaches to study how biofilm formation on implants can be prevented.

BioBone

BioBone ITN is an initial training network for young researchers in the strategic area of bioceramics for bone repair. This ITN is funded by the European Framework Programme 7 for four years from March 2012.

BioDesign

BIODESIGN is a strategic alliance of global experts developing medicines that stimulate tissue regeneration for degenerative and age related disorders of the bone, muscle and heart.

NPmimetic

The NPmimetic project will develop a biomimetic nano-polymer based gel for minimally invasive disc regeneration treatment.

RAPIDOS

Rapid Prototyping of Custom-Made Bone-Forming Tissue Engineering Constructs. A European and Chinese consortium to apply technologies to create custom-made tissue engineered constructs made of resorbable polymer (PTMC or PLGA) and calcium phosphate ceramic composites.
