Medical Writing Course
Medical writing is a specialized skill, but luckily it is one which can be learned. The importance of good medical writing to the success of a final report or manuscript is increasingly being recognized.
However, there are still misconceptions among surgeons about what medical writing is
and the role of the medical writer.
AOCID has a lot of experience in the writing of study-related documents and manuscripts. For the reasons just described, AOCID has put together a one day introductory course in medical writing for surgeons.
This course in medical writing was designed for surgeons who need to be able to:
- Understand the publication process
- Conduct literature searches
- Identify and reproduce essential manuscript elements
- Know the importance of having a target journal
- Create a structured abstract
- Identify existing resources to help them write their manuscripts
An example program is available for download on the right hand side of this page.
AOSpine mentees were the first to take the new medical writing course in September 2014. A modified version of the course was also given to almost 60 surgeons in Taiwan in November 2014.
Please contact our Education Manager (details to the right) if you are interested in taking or hosting this course at your clinic.
As with all of our courses, a customized program can be offered if requested.
