The AO Foundation successfully participated in this year's EFORT (European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology) congress in Vienna, Austria from May 31–June 2, 2017. Around 6,000 participants attended the event which was themed "Sports activities and orthopedic practice".

The combined AOTrauma and AORecon symposium on "Periprosthetic Fractures" which took place on June 1 was a great fit to the congress theme and very well-attended by over 100 participants. Overlap topics between trauma and arthroplasty on periprosthetic fractures were addressed and delivered by our faculty members Carsten Perka, Jonathan Monk, George Babis and Luigi Zagra.

The AO Foundation booth was very busy with congress participants for the duration of the congress and we were happy to see strong interest in AO's activities and platforms, such as fellowship opportunities, our learning hub AO STaRT, and our new video platform AO Interact.

Next year's EFORT congress will take place in Barcelona from May 30–June 1, 2018.
