AOSpine's annual meeting was a chance for participants to enjoy four full days of an outstanding scientific program, exchange knowledge, showcase the very latest research, innovative techniques and cutting-edge technologies in spine surgery to a worldwide audience. A total of 171 expert speakers from 31 countries participated in a ground-breaking scientific program for the only leading spine congress of its kind. A record 1,100 abstracts were submitted for poster presentation providing submitters the opportunity to present their research to hundreds of global spine specialists.

The Scientific Program included pre-courses, AOSpine Symposia, Society Symposia, and peer reviewed abstracts, scheduled to be presented as oral or ePoster presentations. The GSC also provided exclusive AOSpine members-only sessions on a variety of exciting topics, including 'how to write and review a scientific paper' and 'how to develop your AOSpine career.'

New this year, the GSC scientific program featured three one-day intensive cadaver workshops organized by the North American Spine Society (NASS). "The entire program is amazing with something for every spine surgeon. Each surgeon was able to find different topics of interest in this year's scientific program," commented Daniel K Riew, Congress co-chairperson. Also new this year, the GSC brought part of its scientific program straight to individual's homes, offices, and hospitals through live streaming a select number of symposia.

The GSC offered symposia from 12 guest spine societies from different countries: Japanese Scoliosis Society, Korean Spinal Neurosurgery Society, European Association of Neurological Societies, Singapore Spine Society, North American Spine Society, Cervical Spine Research Society, Eurospine, Asia Pacific Spine Society, Chinese Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, Japanese Society of Spine Surgery and Related Research, Association of Spine Surgeons of India, and the Korean Society of Spine Surgery.

The GSC was supported by 46 sponsoring companies. Raising the bar again this year, the GSC held several additional pre-course workshops that hope to set the standard for up and coming GSC editions. These workshops were well supported by industry and societies providing participants with a taste of the worthwhile collaborations on the horizon.
