Call for proposals for the 2018 AOVET-ARI Collaborative Research Grant Mechanism

04. May 2018

AOVET announces the call for proposals for the 2018 AOVET-ARI Collaborative Research Grant Mechanism. The deadline for receipt of proposals is June 15, 2018 and funding will be available from August 15, 2018

These monies are competitively applied for by investigators who choose to undertake all or part of their research study at the AO Research Institute (ARI) Davos. The topic of research activities that are proposed should relate to unanswered questions in veterinary and/or comparative orthopaedics, and the methods that are to be used should be aligned with the resources and expertise available within the AO Research Institute. Investigators will ideally participate actively in the physical completion of the study at ARI or they may ask collaborators at ARI to complete the research on their behalf. Investigators should identify collaborators at ARI in the proposal. Assistance in the identification of suitable ARI collaborators is offered by the ARI representative to the AOVET R&D Commission, Dr Stephan Zeiter.

Available funds are limited and investigators are advised that proposed annual budgets should not exceed CHF 40,000 for a period of up to 12 months. It is anticipated that up to two awards will be made in the 2018 funding cycle. Follow-on funding for a second year may be available but will be determined through a competitive application in the next award cycle.

Monies can only be used for that component of research that will be completed in its entirety at ARI Davos. Travel and housing funds for investigators who prefer to physically participate in completing studies at ARI cannot be applied for through this funding mechanism. Note, however, that assistance in this regard may be available through ARI’s Veterinary Research Fellowship or Sabbatical Programs:
