The AO Research Institute's mission is

  • to contribute high quality research to the general scientific body of knowledge in selected areas related to trauma and the diseased musculo-skeletal system
  • to investigate the performance of surgical procedures, devices and substances to improve patient treatment
  • to render research services within and outside the AO Foundation.
