1. 13-B2.1 Transtrochlear simple, through the medial side

13-B2.1 transtrochlear simple, medial

Simple transtrochlear sagittal fractures through the medial side are classified as 13-B2.1.

2. 13-B2.2 Transtrochlear simple, through the groove

13-B2.2 transtrochlear, through the groove

Simple transtrochlear fractures through the groove are classified as 13-B2.2.

Take care when approaching any apparently nonarticular medial condylar fracture, as these are unusual. Preoperative imaging, including computed tomography, can be used to identify associated articular fractures.

3. 13-B2.3 Transtrochlear multifragmentary

13-B2.3

Multifragmentary transtrochlear fractures are classified as 13-B2.3.

Most medial condylar fractures in adults feature complex articular comminution. Computed tomography - particularly 3D CT - can help define the fracture anatomy and facilitate planning of the surgery.
