Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is the “AO parliament”, consisting of 165 leading surgeons from around the world, including ex-officio Trustees.

The Trustees approve amendments to the charter and elect the members of the Academic Council (AcC). They function as ambassadors for AO in their country or region and communicate the AO philosophy.

They transmit AO information to national institutions and other AO surgeons and bring feedback regarding special needs into AO.

Since each Trustee serves for a limited number of years, constant rejuvenation of the Board is guaranteed.
