New hand and wrist teaching videos are online
Four new hand and wrist teaching videos are published online and ready for use on AO Courses around the world.
The AO Video and Visual Media team worked directly with Swiss surgeon Daniel Rikli, in conjunction with British consulting surgeon Douglas A Campbell, to develop and produce the videos shot in a studio in Dübendorf, Switzerland.
The new videos were successfully piloted during the 2011 Davos Courses and were then given full approval to be released in January 2012. The videos can be accessed and viewed via the AOTrauma and AO Foundation online video libraries.
A new hand and wrist video for Advances Courses Video no.20244 Radius, Distal— Intra-articular Fracture Fixation using the 2.4 mm VA-LCP Volar Two-Column Distal Radius Plate will be released shortly.
Radius, distal—Intra-articular fracture
Fixation using the 2.4 VA-LCP Volar Two-Column Distal Radius Plate
Consultants: Daniel Rikli, CH; Douglas A Campbell, GB
In this presentation an intra-articular fracture of the distal radius will be treated with a 2.4 Variable Angle LCP Volar Two-Column Distal Radius Plate.
Objectives of this presentation
To identify the clinical indications for palmar plating and preoperative planning and to show
-
the principles of the variable angle locking system
-
the patient position and the approach
-
the instruments needed
-
the approach on the bone model
-
the reduction and fixation of the fracture
Radius, distal—Intra-articular fracture
Double plate fixation using 2.4 VA-LCP Distal Radius Plates;
one Two-Column Volar Plate and one Intermediate Column Dorsal Plate
Consultants: Daniel Rikli, CH; Douglas A Campbell, GB
In this presentation an intra-articular fracture of the distal radius will be treated with a double plate fixation. The plates used are 2.4 Variable Angle LCP Distal Radius Plates; one Two Column Volar Plate and one Intermediate Column Dorsal Plate.
Objectives of this presentation
To identify the clinical indications for double plate fixation and preoperative planning and to show
-
the principles of the variable angle locking system
-
the patient position and the approach
-
the instruments needed
-
the approach on the bone model
-
the reduction and fixation of the fracture
Radius, distal—Intra-articular fracture
Dorsal double plate fixation using 2.4 VA-LCP Dorsal Distal Radius Plates
Consultants: Daniel Rikli, CH; Douglas A Campbell, GB
In this presentation an intra-articular fracture of the distal radius will be treated with dorsal double plate fixation using 2.4 Variable Angle LCP Dorsal Distal Radius Plates.
Objectives of this presentation
To identify the clinical indications for dorsal double plating and preoperative planning
and to show
-
the principles of the variable angle locking system
-
the patient position and the approach
-
the instruments needed
-
the approach on the bone model
-
the reduction and fixation of the fracture
Ulna, distal—Subcapital with diaphyseal comminution and styloid fracture
Fixation with a 2.0 LCP Distal Ulna plate
Consultants: Daniel Rikli, CH; Douglas A Campbell, GB
In this presentation a subcapital fracture of the distal ulna with diaphyseal comminution and a styloid fracture will be treated with a 2.0 LCP Distal Ulna Plate.
Objectives of this presentation
To identify the clinical indications for a distal ulna plate
and to show
-
the principles of the distal ulna plate
-
the patient position and the approach
-
the instruments needed
-
the reduction and fixation of the fracture
